Fact File
Culture and History:
Grenada, the southernmost of the Windward Islands, is a former French and British colony whose culture retains heavy French influence. It is also popularly known as “The Spice Isle” for its production of spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. The Spicemas festival is held annually in August as a vibrant celebration of Grenada’s unique cuisine, music, and dance culture.
In addition to its fame as a major global producer of spices, the country is known for its cocoa and high-quality chocolate made from locally grown cocoa beans. Every stage of organic chocolate bar production takes place on the island itself.
Grenada’s mountainous interior remains covered by rainforest and holds many waterfalls with crystal-clear plunge pools perfect for a refreshing swim. The Grand Etang National Park and Forest Reserve in the centre of the island includes a stunning lake at 570m of elevation naturally formed in the crater of an extinct volcano. It is home to a variety of wildlife species, including Mona Monkeys, a wide range of birds, and even armadillos. The park has numerous hiking trails and tours to allow visitors to explore the rich flora and fauna.
Grenada is home to the world’s first underwater sculpture park, which opened in 2006. The park features sculptures closely inspired by Grenada’s culture and acts not only as a diving attraction but also as an artificial substrate to encourage new reef growth and development, ensuring the protection of the local marine ecosystem.
The southern Grenadines are a dependency of Grenada, with the island of Carriacou being the most populous. Carriacou is known for its pristine reef diving spots, including the famous Paradise Beach and its sailing, as well as cultural festivals such as the Maroon Festival, which celebrates freedom from slavery and the African heritage of the community. Petite Martinique is only home to 900 residents, who mostly partake in boat building and fishing. Both islands host famous Regattas that showcase local culture and crafts. St George (Grenada’s capital) is also a popular boating destination, boasting a beautiful harbour overlooked by pastel-coloured houses.
Grenada citizenship offers investors the chance to be part of this idyllic island’s small but rich community.
Why Choose Grenada for Citizenship by Investment?
The Grenada Citizenship By Investment Programme was legislated in 2013 and is governed by the Citizenship By Investment Act 2013. This means that anyone obtaining Grenada Citizenship via this route is protected under the country’s laws.
Grenada’s Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programme offers many benefits, including a second passport, unlocking visa-free travel, tax benefits, and more, making it an unmatched choice for investors worldwide. Here’s why you should choose Grenada’s citizenship programme:
- Citizenship applications can be submitted remotely, so there is no need to visit Grenada in person.

Citizenship Requirements
To qualify for a Grenadian passport and citizenship by investment, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Age: The primary applicant must be over 18 years old.
- Investment Options: Applicants must choose one of the following investment routes:
- National Transformation Fund (NTF) Donation: A minimum non-refundable contribution of USD 235,000 for a single applicant or a family of up to four members.
- Real Estate Investment: Purchase of at least USD 270,000 in a government-approved real estate project, plus an additional minimum non-refundable contribution of USD 50,000. The real estate must be held for a minimum of five years.
- Due Diligence: Applicants must undergo a thorough background check and demonstrate a clean criminal record.
- Health: Applicants and their dependents should be in good health and free from contagious diseases.
- Financial Proof: Applicants must provide evidence of the legal source of funds for the investment.
These are the basic requirements to get you started. Additionally, there are two possible routes to get a Grenada Citizenship by Investment:
- A contribution to the National Transformation Fund starting at USD 235,000.
- A real estate purchase of USD 270,000 or above from a government-approved property developer which can be sold after 5 years. This option requires an additional non-refundable donation of USD 50,000 for a family of up to 4 members.
In both cases, the investment/donation is made after the government approves a citizenship application following due diligence.
Prior to granting citizenship approval, thorough due diligence is carried out to verify the sources of funds and the profiles of the applicants. The due diligence process includes a mandatory online interview with an independent panel that assesses the sources of funds before granting approval.
The government and legal fees are non-refundable and must be paid before the due diligence process begins. The principal payment amount related to the donation or real estate purchase is paid once the government confirms the citizenship approval. The whole process, from application submission to citizenship approval, can take 6 to 9 months. However, the time frame can vary under the real estate option depending on the developer chosen and property availability.
